Jul 26, 2010 Hyundai-Kia outsells Toyota in Europe and China
European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association reported recently that Kia, together with its parent Hyundai Motor Company, outsold Toyota in Europe in the first half of the year. In addition to that, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group also beat its main Japanese rival in the fast growing China market!
According to the report, Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group was the best-selling Asian automaker in Europe during the first six months of the fiscal year. The South Korean auto giant sold nearly 3,000 automobiles more than Toyota, which saw its sales plummeting 11 percent, compared to a year ago. Speaking of decreasing Toyota sales, sales of other Japanese carmakers, such as Honda and Suzuki, also fell sharply. Their sales plunged by 21 and 20 percent, respectively.
During the first six months, Kia Motors sold 138,357 vehicles, while Hyundai Motor Company sold 191,338 vehicles in the European market. According to European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, the combined total of 329,695 units is 2,904 more than Toyota’s sales of 326,791.

Jun 09, 2010 2011 Kia Sorento safety rating: “Top Safety Pick” according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) presented the “Top Safety Pick” award in the midsize SUV category to the 2011 Kia Sorento compact utility vehicle, along with the 2010 Soul urban passenger vehicle and 2010 Forte compact sedan.
Coming from a sale earlier this year, the Kia Sorento received this honor from the IIHS by having received the highest achievable rate of “Good” after passing the frontal, side, rear and rollover impact crash safety tests.
On the other hand, the Sedona minivan received the IIHS “Top Safety Pick” and “Safest Minivan Ever Tested” awards just shortly after it was launched in 2006. It then went on to receive the same awards in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Jun 07, 2010 Kia Forte sales rise to 7,299 units in May 2010
Kia Motors America announced it has sold 31,431 vehicles in May 2010 in the U.S. market. Compared to a year earlier, Kia’s sales last month were up 20 percent and surpassed the previous May sales record achieved two years ago.
Kia sales last month were lead by stylish Sorento crossover with 8,166 units sold. It was followed by Forte compact car, which saw its sales rise to 7,299 units. This was the best sales result for Kia Forte/Forte Koup sine it entered the US market last year. Another Kia vehicle that posted personal best sales was funky Kia Soul crossover. With 6,134 units sold, the 2010 Kia Soul became the third best-selling Kia vehicle in May.

Edmunds.com recently honored the 2010 Kia Forte with its Consumers’ Top Rated vehicle award for 2010. Kia Motors America announced on June 3, 2010 that its compact sedan has been recognized as the top-rated sedan under $15,000.
The Forte received this important citation from Edmunds.com for its excellent overall value and wealth of standard features. It is now regarded as one of the best-looking small cars in the market as well as most fun-to-drive vehicles in its class.

The all-new Forte 5-door follows the design lines of the Forte sedan and the two-door Koup. It incorporates similar front-end styling as the four-door sibling with minor changes made to the front grille. Major styling changes have been done to the car’s rear-end, which received the fifth-door for sportier look and added practicality.
Kia revealed the 2011 Forte 5-door has been scheduled to go on sale in the NA market in October, so we will have to wait until then to hear more information about available trim levels and detailed pricing.
